Back in Cameroon!

Welcome to the CDF Blog’s first ever blog post!  In case you don’t already know me, I’m Brendan Schwartz—CDF co-founder and Program Director.  We hope the blog will become a good forum for CDF supporters to stay in touch with what is happening on the ground in Cameroon and get to know us a little better. Look out for more posts and Enjoy!

Research Cooperation Facilitated by CDF

In June of this year, COREDEC, one of the CDF’s education grantees invited Professor Nik Emmanuel of Oklahoma State University to the University of Ngaoundere to conduct a seminar on research methodologies for students working on their Masters theses.

Emmanuel used his own political science research to demonstrate how researchers develop research questions, use statistical models, and propose further research in a concise manner.

African Humanities

Professor Taguem Fah, COREDEC’s Executive Director, recently created an interdisciplinary (and bilingual) academic journal called African Humanities.  The journal’s first number appeared last year and is available on COREDEC’s website.  Professor Emmanuel contributed a particularly interesting article on the political dynamics of aid between France and Cameroon.

Cameroon has a rather large university system and many talented professors doing original and creative research.  Unfortunately, there remain few venues for professors and students alike to publish their research.  African Humanities will help fill this gap for researchers in the social sciences and humanities.
